RIOTS ON THE MOON
Carlos AmoralesIn October 2024, KBB initiated a new dialogue with renowned Mexican artist Carlos Amorales to develop Riots on the Moon, a limited edition signed artist's book. This delicate project was carried out in collaboration with Mexican production company TORSCHLUSSPANIK and will be presented during Art Week in the publisher's section of Zona Maco, February 5-9.
Riots on the Moon is an exclusive work, printed in high quality lithography, with a print run of only 180 copies, all numbered and signed by Carlos Amorales. This handcrafted process ensures the excellence of each copy.
The book explores the interaction between graphics and text, a constant in the artist's work. The content of the book is based on the use of words to generate visual images through artificial intelligence programs. The images were created by asking the program to draw scenes of street riots, using the calligraphies of the French poet Henri Michaux as a basis. In parallel, the text of the book arose from a poem about street riots, written by the computer in English. Then, a flesh-and-blood translator produced a Spanish version, which was transformed again by the artificial intelligence into a play, which was corrected by a flesh-and-blood writer.
