OSCAR MURILLO - FREQUENCIES VOL. 1 (INGLÉS)

$ 2,000

Oscar Murillo: Frequencies documents the artist’s long-running participatory project begun in 2013, exploring the development and nature of community on a global scale. Over the past decade, members of Murillo’s family and studio, along with collaborators, visited schools around the world, attaching blank canvases to students’ desks and inviting children to draw, write, and paint on them over several months.

Edited by Alessandro Rabottini, this extensive archival publication combines rigorous classification with the raw, joyful chaos of everyday experience, conveyed through images and stories surrounding the creation of the works. The book also documents A Storm Is Blowing from Paradise at the Scuola Grande della Misericordia in Venice, the most comprehensive exhibition of Frequencies to date.

The publication includes contextual essays by Mark Godfrey, Eleanor Nairne, and Gabi Ngcobo; a conversation between Oscar Murillo and Alessandro Rabottini; and commentary from those involved in realizing the project.
